Fenny Sterenborg was born in 1956 in a small town in Groningen, a province in the north-east of the Netherlands. There she grew up as the eldest of four siblings. She still lives there today. She was married twice and has two sons, one from each marriage. Though she loves reading from a very early age on, instilled in her by her mother, she only recently (2005) started writing poetry.
