Sophie Hannah was born in 1971 in Manchester. She was educated at the University of Manchester, where she studied English Literature and Spanish. Fellow Commoner in the Creative Arts at Trinity College, Cambridge, and a Fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford, she currently teaches at Manchester Metropolitan University's Writing School.
