Twenty Years Young by Gary R. Ferris
Today you went to sleep,
And all pain slipped away,
You left all you ever knew,
And journeyed out today. ***** I wonder what was on your mind,
As you left us behind tonight;
Was there peace and joy,
Or were you filled with fright. ***** It seems so unfair to me,
That you left this world so soon;
No chance to fulfill your dreams,
Or howl at the moon. ***** I think of those you left behind,
And the pain that they are in.
The confusion that must fill their mind,
Praying that you would win. *****
I asked the Lord to comfort me,
His will is hard to know.
I believe He has a special way,
Of letting people go. ***** It is hard to imagine,
Or begin to understand;
Why you were taken,
When you barely learned to stand. ***** I know you’re in glory now,
Much better off your are.
But you will be missed,
For you are a shining star. ***** Twenty years young you were,
Twenty years you are;
In twenty years you went home,
Home is where you are. *****
