of sap, culled
from willing maples
pouring into the vat
the cauldron
atop the old,
crumbling
outdoor grill
brick and mortar
tile flue
rusted grates
a puddle of mud behind
used for mud pies
in prior years
a burn barrel
the other end of the yard
wood smoke swirling,
surrounding
the making
of smoke syrup
precious remains
of stirring
and stirring
