For a matter of moments,
an immaculate appointment
appearing out of nowhere
no beginning, just is
where she was going without
where she had been
the future without the past
For a fleeting moment two appointments
both in play, until the update on the screen
a from for the to, a beginning for the end
cleaner that way,
connectionally speaking that is

when Ruth’s new appointment was listed (the to)
but her current appointment (the from)
was not listed at all.
