Always Torture - Poem by Raymond A. Foss

Finally, the words, unambiguous, clear
torture, waterboarding was torture,
a position for the new administration
words with power, with consequences
Our country, bound by our creed, by our beliefs
must not be party, must not use, cannot condone
always torture, a statement of fact
words under oath, with power, with consequence
may we ever be mindful, of the words he shared
echoes of the words of our savior, a foundation
a rock on which we all should stand
