The pastor’s words on receiving the bread
on sharing the wine
broken for me, shed for me

Amen is not enough
Not enough at all
to explain the awe,
the utter humbling joy
of the gift from God

Maybe the right response
the only appropriate answer
to this agape love
is pure silence.
