In reverent mediation by Raymond A. Foss

A change in my gait, in my breathing
walking on the rocks, on the beach
in reverent mediation
slowing my pace, taking in the sea air
feeling the sand under my feet
the warming stones, the hot beach
lingering, looking toward the horizon
then my head cast to my feet
crouching down, to see the small shells,
the little smooth wet stones
the amethyst, brown, and clear sea glass
bits of porcelain, like the sea glass
smoothed by the journey from the sea
