Believing the Psalmist - Poem by Raymond A. Foss

In his heart of hearts
the holy of holies of his soul
he did not trust the Lord;
in himself alone
Gathering in, ever more
when he should be sharing his wealth;
believing the psalmist,
he would have had no fear no dread
The abundance not of his hands
the work, the gift of God
faithfulness is all he demands
something the rich man could not give
Unable to see the world
his place on this earth
through the eyes of
the psalmist or the Christ
counting on himself instead
