Wet Feet by Raymond A. Foss

Out of the boat
onto the waters
feeling the call of the Lord
to believe

We are his servants
the clay of the potter’s wheel
like Peter called,
to follow,
to believe

Out of our comfort
even on the tossing seas
the boat seemingly firm
only what we know
out onto the waters
called by our savior
if only we believe

Wet feet, on the waves
the waters touching our skin
our eyes on Christ
for the winds are howling
the devil calling us
to lose our focus
to doubt, in unbelief and
sink beneath the waves

We are called
by our loving savior
over the gunnels
out onto the waves
calling us to him
to walk beside him
yoked with him
is we but belief
