Not strangers, set apart from us
part of us, all those suffering
our extended family
the people of Haiti;
all of them raised up
lifted up, as if on wings,
wrapped in our collective prayer
all around the world

Each of them lifted up, in our prayer
that their pain, their sorrow
the weight lifted from their shoulders
feeling instead, love,
palpable, the loving arms of God
healing the ache, the loss
all of our brother, our sisters, our children
in that troubled, hurting place
