We should be mindful
more than in his teachings
the words that he shared
how we should forgive one another

Forgiveness in our hearts
so should we carry
God’s love, forgiveness
for everyone on earth

His life, the model, example
true love, forgiveness
for the whole world
even those who wished him death

Our understanding only
in part comprehending
the forgiveness of Christ
while he hung on the cross

His lesson, his teaching
to forgive one another
holy, sustaining
because Christ did this himself
