Thy Will (2) by Raymond A. Foss
Echoing the prayer he taught us
in his pain, his agony
sweat falling like blood
Christ in the garden
praying to the Lord

That the cup
the path before him
could somehow pass
not come to his lips
but like the prayer he taught us
humbly, thy will be done

Here on earth,
in the midst of our trials
when the storm clouds
when temptation comes
following the path our savior taught us
through the narrow gate
thy kingdom come, thy will be done

“When you think of Jesus' agony in the Garden of Gethsemane –
Matthew says he was overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death –
and that he threw himself on the ground as he began to pray –
how has this passage brought help or comfort to you?”
