Compared to the World by Raymond A. Foss

Christ speaking of the blessed of God
the opposite of the world
compared to the values of the earth
the words upside down

Blessed are
so many more
than the world would equate
all of us cherished before God

Looking at the words
spoken by Christ
of those who will find favor
rewards in heaven, not of this earth
utterly upsetting the tables

“Loving God, hold not our sins against us; but

The Prayers of Soren Kierkegaard,
“Father in Heaven! Hold not our sins up against us but
hold us up against our sins so that the thought of You
when it wakens in our soul, and each time it wakens,
should not remind us of what we have committed but
of what You did forgive, not of how we went astray
but of how You did save us!”
