Anointed for this purpose by Raymond A. Foss

Not some random act of fate
some cosmic coincidence
each of us sent to the earth
as was the son, the Christ

Each of us anointed
for a specific purpose of God
each of us commissioned
before we breathed the air

To use the gifts we are given
to share with the whole world
the love of God come to the earth
the good news of Christ
God who died, that we may live

Prayer of Dedication:
“Abundant God, we thank you for the jars of our lives
that are constantly being filled. We offer our gifts to you,
that others may know of your abundance and grace.
Fill the hungry with good things. Lift up the oppressed.
Watch over the stranger and comfort the lonely.
Through our gifts, may we do likewise.
In the name of Christ the Comforter, we pray. Amen”
