The Way of Church by Raymond A. Foss

The way of church changing
once more returning
to some of the truths
of our origins
house churches
and missions
going out into the world

Not led by the pastor
the patriarch in the pulpit
preaching from the top down
being told what to do
led by the congregants
by each person’s calling
each one led by the Spirit
to live the verb of church

July 11, 2010
Isaiah 43:18-21
Genesis 1:1-2:4
(read responsively by the congregation,
speaking the words of God)
John 13:34-35 (Call to Worship)
Worship Theme: “Church is a verb, not a noun.”
and sermon, “Changing the Dictionary, Changing Lives”
