The People Shall be Free - Poem by Raymond A. Foss

The time may be uncertain
but the tide has already turned
the peoples of those nations
that whole region of the world

The people shall be free
no matter how soon
the world shifting below them
freedom on the march

We must side with them
those who have been crying
who stand in the street
yearning to breathe free

We must never waiver
the time for expediency long gone
we will be judged
by how we stand with them now

all the protests in Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Syria,
Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Palestinian Territories, Djibouti, Mauritania, Senegal, etc.
and
especially the resignation of Hosni Mubarak

versus the bloodshed in Bahrain and Libya, etc.

hearing claim by President Obama 2/15/2011
in a news conference that when history books tell it
we will be seen as being on the right side of history
