A Pleading Cry by Gary R. Ferris
I know your eyes are looking ,
For things far down the road;
It looks so bright and glorious,
But things aren’t like they’re told. ***** You say you’ve found what you wanted,
Your life lies up ahead;
You see him in your future,
And dream of him in bed. ***** You want to give up on us,
And toss your past away;
Our child we share together,
Was just promised yesterday. ***** How can you just forget us,
For our love we’ve always shown;
Your eyes are blind with darkness,
And your heart has waxed so cold. *****
I know that things weren’t always perfect,
But life my dear never is;
But someone comes along to steal,
And says your life is his. ***** I don’t have much to offer you,
But love as pure as snow;
If only I could find a way,
To make you not want to go. ***** I’ve survived a lot so far,
And can hurt a little while;
But it will be hard to go on living,
If I have to miss your smile. ***** So please don’t leave me darling,
And turn and walk away;
Let’s not worry about tomorrow,
Just give me your today. *****
