But Still by Gary R. Ferris
I said all that I can say;

But still, you don’t hear me.

Your eyes appear open;

But still, you cannot see.

*****

I’ve poured my heart out to you;

But still, it went to waste.

I tried so hard to feed you;

But still, you wouldn’t taste.

*****

I even tried to touch you;

But still, you couldn’t feel.

I even tried to nurture you;

But still, you wouldn’t heal.

*****

I try so hard to reach you;

But still, you’re far away.

I wake in hope each morning;

But still, it’s not today.

*****

You look so hopeless and out of sight;

But still, I don’t know.

I guess I should walk away;

But still, I can’t go.
