A Mother God by Raymond A. Foss

The Vine, like the womb,
the umbilical cord; but more
never to be severed, never cut
the vine a part of us, lifelong
feeding us, giving us strength
a connection to God,
to one another, a family of faith
living in, abiding in the vine
abiding in God, in the love of God
a mother God, in the nature of the vine
helping us bear fruit for a hungry world
