A Moment of Silence by Raymond A. Foss

Our bodies still
breathing slowing
entering into true worship
silent prayers to God

A moment of silence
not a sound audible
the beating of my heart
alone coming to my mind

In the community of believers
bowing our heads in our pews
or at the rail, stopping to pray
offering our petitions,
our thanks and praise to God
knowing he answers our prayers
