The Burden of the World - Poem by Raymond A. Foss

In the cup of the garden
drinking of the suffering
the burden of the world
taken upon his shoulders

Taking on the weight
sin of all humanity
laid upon the lamb
becoming the sacrifice

Christ, in his passion
for this he came to earth
humble as a child
beginning in a manger

Wrapped in swaddling clothing
a servant all of his life
offered in our place
going to the cross
healing us utterly
