The joy of one who became flesh - Poem by Raymond A. Foss

Our message of hope
our joy in this season
the joy of one
of God who became flesh
descending to earth
walking beside us
teaching us his ways
informed by love

Going to the cross
taking the cup
the bitterness of sin
into his flesh
carrying our stain
to the rugged cross
descending to the dead
covered in our shame

Rising in glory,
in victory, on high
walking beside us
to assure us of the promise
the charge to us all
to make new disciples
to keep our lamps lit
looking to the clouds,
His return in victory
