Blessed to be Light by Raymond A. Foss
The Beatitudes echoing
into this moment
the urgency of now
in all the nations

Blessed to be light
the salt of the earth
common people
giving voice to your love

Each of us called
to be the light to the nations
to shine our witness
your love for all man

Hope in your coming
the grace of your offering
the lamb climbing
becoming the sacrifice

So much change
but this is the beginning
the chains of oppressions
being cast off

Keep on with the revolution
the tyrants just beginning
the hope of the world
in the healing of Christ

The last tyrant remaining
the sin of our making
the devil and his agents
loose in the world

We need to stand
with the oppressed people
breaking the chains that bind them
shackled to the grave

Shine that light boldly
up on the lampstand
that all will see God
in the face of their neighbors

We are to be salt
common and ordinary
together a bonfire
freeing the whole world
