They say God is asleep and can not hear,

He so far away, He can’t be near.

But not true is what I say,

Because I know He hears me when I pray.

He may not answer with words aloud,

But my prayers penetrate the cloud.

There is no distance that’s too far,

And it doesn’t matter where you are.

I may not be able to see Him with my eyes,

But I know my Lord hears my cries.

He’s not so far away,

That He doesn’t care about today.

You see my Lord lives in my heart,

And there prayer has to start.

From there He directs my life,

And cares about my struggles and strife.

He asked me to believe what I can’t see,

And from there He honors me.

I don’t need Him to appear,

Because in my heart, my Lord is near.
*****
My Lord hears me when I pray,

Even though I don’t see Him today.

He gave His word to my heart,

And from there is where I start.
*****
His words are clear in my ear.

And that’s when my Lord is near.

In my spirit I can see,

That my Lord cares for me.
